Investment in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is one of the fastest growing property markets in Europe. It offers investors a winning strategy ahead of European Union Membership in 2007. Bulgaria has already met all of the Maastricht criteria, the prerequisite necessary to be included in the Euro zone.

Bulgaria's  monetary and fiscal policy, macroeconomic and political stability, functioning free market economy, privatised financial sector, favorable tax rates, legal structure, flexible labour laws and very competitive wage rates all have contributed to a quantifiable improved business climate.

Bulgaria has a stable currency with a fixed exchange rate with the Euro. In addition there is an abundant supply of skilled labour and university graduates in technology and business disciplines. Construction contractors are of a high quality with a low cost base as labour costs are among the lowest in Europe.

Investment in real estate has doubled in the last 2 years with seaside resorts being most popular. Growth on the Black Sea coast has been limited by a shortage of beds in the key resorts.
Interest rates continue to fall below 7% and construction funding is available for Developers at very competitive rates.

Corporate tax rates are low at 15% with further falls predicted. There are also double taxation agreements in place between Bulgaria and many European countries including Ireland and the U.K.

Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria was over & euro 1.6 billion in 2004 and this combined with capital and infrastructure grants for EU accession in 2007 creates an excellent opportunity for sustained growth in this developing economy.

Climate

Bulgaria enjoys warm summers and cold, crisp winters. There is a major contrast in winter between coastal areas, kept temperate by the influence of the Black Sea and the mountainous inland, which  provides excellent skiing conditions in resorts such as  Bansko.

A Place for All Seasons

The Black Sea Coast attracts thousands of visitors in the summer months, who enjoy the  clean safe beaches and the warm waters of the Black Sea resorts. In Winter, it is the turn of the mountain resorts, such as Bansko, where world class skiing costs a fraction of its equivalent in say France or Austria.

Dining Out

Bulgaria offers high quality, low cost dining  providing both traditional Bulgarian and international cuisine. Fresh local produce is served in creative ways and there is some thing for everyone, fish lovers, meat eaters and vegetarians alike. One curiosity of service in Bulgarian restauarnts is that food will be served as soon as a particular dish is ready, so not all the food comes out at the same time.

Passports & Visas

Visas are no longer required for EU Nationals as Bulgaria became a full EU member in January 2007.
